Rep. Joe Moody Begins Committee Work
In the first meeting of the Committee on Border and Intergovernmental Affairs, Chairwoman Veronica Gonzales expressed her pleasure that Rep. Moody had joined her committee.
“It’s very good to have Rep. Moody with us,” Rep. Gonzales said. “His experience living his whole life in El Paso, on the border, will bring real personal understanding to our committee.”
Chairman Pete Gallego also spoke highly of Rep. Moody’s background as a prosecutor Wednesday after the first meeting of the Committee on Criminal Jurisprudence. “As a former prosecutor and El Paso community leader, Representative Moody will be a strong advocate for common-sense policies that protect Texas families and respect crime victims. I am looking forward to working closely with my friend Rep. Moody in the coming months and years.”
Chairman Gallego also appointed Representative Moody to three subcommittees of criminal jurisprudence, one of which he will chair.
“I am humbled that Chairman Gallego has given me the honor of chairing the Criminal Jurisprudence Subcommittee on Criminal Procedure,” said Moody. “We have more bills referred to our subcommittee than any other and I am anxious to get to work.”
District Attorney Jaime Esparza, of the 34th Judicial District, who Moody served under as a prosecutor, said of the appointment, “Rep. Moody has a strong work ethic and will do great work on these committees and subcommittees to further protect our communities and make improvements to the criminal justice process.”
“These are going to be productive and positive committees,” Moody continued. “I couldn’t have asked for better two better chairs to learn from than Rep. Gonzales and Rep. Gallego.”
